1) Right :

The second delivery period is December ~ March (Spring Festival).
The large-eyed custard apple has a round shape, it can be peeled off
with your fingers ( half the fruit ) when it is ripe enough ( soft ).
The easiest way to eat it is to dig out the flesh with a spoon. The taste is sweet and soft, and it tastes like ice cream
after being iced.

2) Left :
Pineapple custard apple ( Buddha Head ) :
Production season from December to March (Spring Festival)
This is an improved variety.
Also known as honey custard apple, the scales on the surface are pointed protrusions. The epidermis is a whole piece without cracks. It must be cut into pieces with a knife. The pineapple custard apple has a large fruit and few grains. The pulp has a firmer taste, slightly crispy, and a light flower smell, pineapple aroma, sweet and sour and refreshing!
( p.s. when slightly pressing it, you feel like rubber
eraser elastic, this one can be cut & eat. )
Do not wait till soft like a bread.
This is the key different point from the first original variety.
💖💘😃😋
< p.s. > FYI, Red Fruit is Jingle Bell Fruit
Another Taiwan Specialty.

Sakyamuni selection skills :
1. Fruit shape is round
First look at the appearance of the fruit shape. It is better to choose the rounded and complete one, without nicks or dents; if the custard apple has cracked and a large amount of fruit juice is leaked, it is already overripe, so do not buy it.
2. The epidermis is green with yellow
The over-green custard apples have insufficient ripeness and low sweetness. It is recommended to choose greenish custard apples.
In addition, the freshness of the peel with white fruit powder is better; if there is a collision during transportation, or after being touched multiple times, the peel will have black spots, which is not fresh.
3. The heavier one is more sweet 😁😀
Sakyamuni of the same size is in the hand, the heavier has more water and it is more sweet too.

What to do after buying home?
Custard apple is a kind of "menopausal fruit".
It needs a lot of oxygen and produces a lot of carbon dioxide when it ripens. Therefore, after buying the immature and soft custard apple, it must be ripened in a ventilated environment. Put the ice in the bag or put it in the refrigerator, it will turn into the so-called "dumb custard apple", the flesh will become black and inedible!
( * DON'T do it * )
Ripening method :
wrap it in paper or cloth to ripen; or put it in a rice urn, and it will ripen in just 1 to 3 days.
It is recommended to store them separately during ripening to avoid rot of other fruits and vegetables.
Storage method :
- Unripe hard custard apples can be stored for about 1 week at room temperature.
- If they are ripened ( naturally become soft ), then they can be the whole one wrapped in paper, put in a plastic bag and refrigerated. They can be stored for 3 to 6 days. It can also be peeled, cut into pieces and put in a fresh-keeping bag.
- It can be frozen and stored for about 1 month.
- It tastes like ice cream !
